Community Garage
aka Library of Things or Tool Library
Why buy it? Borrow it. A shared garage for tools, gear, gadgets, and more.
Community Garage Donations
We’re building out the garage and need your help!
Outgrown your gear? Upgrade your power tools? Cleaning out your own garage? Donate your tools, gear or gadgets and we’ll make sure they’re never neglected! We’re currently accepting donations for items in our Wish List and more.
Donated tools must be:
in good working condition (no broken tools)
movable by a single person
dropped off at 65 Fix Way (no pick-ups)
We only accept donations that have been approved in person or by emailing donation@thespotvta.org with details about the donation and ideally pictures.
This support expands the offering of our Community Garage giving more people access to tools in cost effective ways. And it frees up your garage space and keeps things out of the landfill. So many wins!

Membership
Using the Community Garage is a lot like borrowing from a public library, but instead of books we’ll have shelves full of tools, gear and other items for you to borrow. You can search and reserve items through our online inventory and pick them up during our open hours.
To borrow you’ll need a Community Garage membership. Memberships are available for Ventura County residents over 18+ with a valid ID.
Community Garage memberships are pay-what-you-can. You choose what you want to pay based on what you can afford. We recommend $100 for your one-year membership, but members can pay much less or much more. Membership donations over $100 help provide subsidized memberships for low-income community members.
Our inventory goals include a range of tools for woodworking, home repair, gardening, cooking, sewing, outdoor gear, games and more. Items are rented for 7 days and there are no additional rental fees. Inventory search to come.
STATUS: we are building our memberships and collecting donations in an effort to buildout the Community Garage and other resources. We are currently aiming to be operational in June 2026.
